The Lamb of God

The Book of John 1:29 says, ''Behold the Lamb of God which taketh (takes) away the sin of the world.''

Why did God the Father choses a lamb to picture his Only Begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior. If you remember during Abraham's days, God called Abraham to take his son Isaac to Mt Moriah to be a sacrifice. But God stop the sacrifice, and provided an animal instead of Isaac as the sacrifice. Although, Isaac might be a picture of Christ as many theologians have taught over the years, looking at God's perspective, Isaac will not be able to represent Christ as the innocent, unblemish, obedient Lamb of God, because, he has the Adamic sin nature. It could not be man with sin nature, but a sinless man without the Adamic nature. So then, Lamb is a perfect representation as the sacrificial lamb, because animals has no Adamic sin nature. This event is a test for Abraham, not for Isaac. According to biblical account, God tested Abraham to see if he will obey him.

On the other hand, an animal, a lamb in particular would be a perfect picture of His Only Begotten Son because lamb have no sin nature, though they were affected by the curse. Animals per se were innocent, unblemish, and obedient going to the slaughter. In the Old Testament, God had separated animals as clean and unclean, and all the clean animals were used as sacrifice during the Old Testament economy.

Therefore, the encarnation of God being the Son of God is very important aspect of theology, because Jesus Christ is the only person born of a virgin without sin nature fitting for sin offering. God requires an innocent, free of sin blood as a payment of the sin of the world, and Jesus Christ blood is the only qualified blood sacrifice acceptable unto God.

Under the umbrella of Christianity there are those teachers, pastors, and theologians that oppose the doctrine of atonement (Christ's blood as the full payment of sin). They look at the blood of Christ in contemp, and repugnant, but to God, the blood of his Only Begotten Son is a sweet savour unto him. Now you know that Jesus Christ is the Only Lamb of God who is able to take away sin, which include the penalty, and the condemnation attached to it. Now that you know; you decide.

In the Old Testament animal sacrifice was important to the Jewish people not only because it is part of the Levitical law, but it is a means to cover their transgressions for at least a year. So they do animal sacrifice for that very reason, and it was a sweet savour unto their God. But when the Lord Jesus Christ was sacrificed on the cross, that would be the end of animal sacrifice. The ultimate sacrifice for the sin of the world (Jews & Gentiles) culminated on Calvary, so now animal sacrifice ceased to exist. The Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 A.D and since then no temple was rebuilt, and no temple, no animal sacrifice for the Jewish people.

''After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar; and they filled a spunge with vinegar; and put it upon hyssop. and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, it is finished; and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost (spirit).'' (John 19:28,29,30 kjv).

When Jesus said, it is finished, this can only mean one thing; he fulfilled what is required to save the whole world. Remember Jesus came not to condemned the world, but to save the world from condemnation. Therefore, the whole thrust of his death on the cross is to fulfill the Scripture prophetic event in the Old Testament. And as we see him here, he accomplished what the Scripture required of him to do. Again, let's remind ourselves that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who will take away the sin of the world. Now at the cross he fulfilled what the law demand to satisfy the justice of God, because of sin that we have done.

The Bible said, ''Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped (shut), and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.'' (Romans 3:19, 20 kjv).

Justified, or Justification within the context of the Bible simply means ''to be declared righteous'', but the law could not declared us righteous instead, the law demand judgment toward all sinners. According to the law, we are all guilty and condemned before God.

On the other hand, the grace of God through His only Begotten Son redemption came to all humanity.

''Being justified (declared righteous) freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (satisfaction, appeasement, expiation) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission (forgiveness) of sins that are past, through the forbearance (self restraint) of God.

(Romans 3:24, 25 kjv).

Although, the law of God is good, and righteous, it is not in our favor when it comes to forgiveness of sin; the law of God found us guilty before God, but the grace of God through His Only Begotten Son freed us from the demand of the law. Through the blood of Jesus Christ redemption had come to us freely which cacelled out the justice of the law.

The law and Grace are very important theological concepts to understand the absolute love of God toward the world. ''''For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.'' (John 3:16 kjv). There is no doubt that God loved humanity though we are sinners condemned to hell fire. God is not willing that we are going to perish in hell. The solution to our sifull condition is for the Son of God to come to our rescue. Actually, Jesus Christ came to seek and to save the lost (sinners condemned to hell fire). Jesus Christ came to heal the sick, feed the hungry, did miracles, preach the kingdom of God is near, made the blind see, and many more. These humanitarian works of Jesus Christ are excellent, but these were not the purpose Jesus came. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who will take away the sin of the world. While in the Old Testament Israel was instructed by God to use animal blood to cover their transgressions temporarily, the Righteous, innocent, unblimesh blood shed at Calvary would cleanse us from all unrighteousness forever. We could not enter heaven with a minute sin lingering in our soul. God has to clean us from inside out completely. without any trace of sin in us. Therefore, Jesus Christ is the ultimate sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin.

However, this does not mean that all humanity is automatically go to heaven, they have to trust, believe, or place their faith in Christ. Remember, John 3:16 say, ''Whosoever believeth in him (Jesus Christ) should not perish (condemned in hell) but have everlasting life.''

Now, do you really believed that Jesus Christ died for you, shed his precious blood for you to have the everlasting life in heaven? Do you believed that there is such place called heaven, the city of gold, pure river of water flowing coming from the Throne of God? Do you believed that the blood of Christ will cleanse you from all unrighteousness?

Well, it is your decision to make, and let not Satan make that decision for you. The window of opportunity is wide open, but it will not last forever. Life is uncertain as apostle James put it, come to God with a contrite heart, and trust, believed, or place your faith in Christ Jesus alone today. This opportunity might not come tommorow.

I took this time to write this information not to offend you, but to let you know the love of God for you. God does not want you to go to hell, he want you to enjoy heaven and be with Him forever. If there is a person who does not want you to go to heaven, that would be Satan. He succeeded in the Garden of Eden, but this time Jesus Christ the Only Begotten Son of God had conquered death for you at Calvary. It is not necessary for you to go to hell, Come toward God in repentance, and accept His only Begotten Son: Jesus Christ as your Savior today.
