The Great Shepherd In John 10:11,12,14,16, said, ''I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. and other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.'' 1 Peter 5:4 ''And when the chief shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeh not away.'' - According to the Bible the Lord Jesus Chirst is the overall Shepherd of the church. The sheep discribed in those verses mentioned refers to the Body of believers in Christ also known as the Church. The Chief Shepherd which is the Lord Jesus Christ is the protector, the sustainer of the entire Body of Christ or the Church. Notice that the Shepherd and the sheep know each oher, and they communicate from each other. Jesus Christ is always with the sheep and ready to help them in time of need. Notice also in Hebrews 3:1 says, ''Wherefore, holy brethren partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus. Here we see Jesus Christ as the High priest of the Body of Christ the Church. I believed Paul was the one who wrote the book of Hebrews, and he told the Jewish Christians during his ministry that Jesus Christ is the High priest. Jesus Christ had taken the lead role of being the High Priest of His Church. Now we got to understand that most of the Jewish people does not believed Jesus Christ as their Messiah, but some came to know Jesus as their Savior. Now apostle Paul reminded them that Jesus Christ now is the High priest, therefore, the Aaronic priesthood was annuled, and the existing high priest at that time was no longer in service. The Levitical priesthood as they know it was now gone forever, and Jesus Christ was and is the High priest forever. Judaism at its best as they know it had faded away, so with all the rituals, and practices that come with it. What then is the role of the pastors of churches? Well, pastors were called by the High priest (the Lord Jesus Christ) to take care of the church while the Chief Shepherd is not physically present. The pastor role is simply to teach, feed, and guide the church to the right spiritual life here on earh. As Jesus Christ said, there are wolves circling the sheep and it need a under shepherd to keep them on the right path that they may not go astray and become victims of wolves lurking around the sheepfold. Although, Jesus Christ was not physically present, the Bible said that one or three praying together, Jesus Christ is in the middle of them. Jesus Christ is watching His Church 24/7 and knows what's goes on to the Churches around the world. Since the Pastor or pastors were the caretaker of all Churches around the world greater responsibilities falls into their hand. They are accountable to the Lord Jesus Christ on what they taught, preached and how they handle the finance of the Church. Jesus Christ indeed is the Chief Shepherd of any local Church around the world. On the other, under the umbrella of Christianity, there are many false teachers, pastors, priests inside any given Churches. In addition to false teachers, pastors, priests, there are also cults around the continent that labeled themselves as Christians. They are just like wolves inside many Churches around the world today. Of course, to the ordinary church goers these signs of falsehood in the church are very difficult to detect. It would take a serious bible study, prayers, and vigilant in order to detect false teachings, and doctrine. On the other hand, to be a critic to a pastor, teacher just because you don't agree with him would be inappropriate action to make. But this does not mean that we are not going to be silence when there are anomally going on in the church. Remember, every believer inside a local church is a living stone and partaker of the holy things of God. And if thier are false doctrine, teaching going on inside a local church everybody is affected, and God is not being glorifiedl. This does not mean that a pastor, teacher could not make mistake. Again, keep in mind that a pastor and teacher is as human as you are, we do commit mistake, and their is alway solution to a mistake. |
