We preach, teach, Evangelize; You decide

I've heard over the years people talked about that the God of the Old Testament was not the God of the New Testament. For some odd reason they have the impression that the God of the Old Testament was mean toward people, and the God of the New Testament was loving, compassionate, toward the people. Well let us go to the Old Testament and see how God deals with Israel during the Old testament Economy.

Let's start the calling of Abraham by God in Genesis 12:1,2,3, ''Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of the country, and house, unto a land that I will shew thee; and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing, and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth theee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.''

Let' dissect this into parts so we can have a pretty good handle what this covenant of God to Abraham is all about. Let's get the first one, ''Get thee out of your country and house, unto a land that I will shew thee.'' In my istimation this covenant is conditional, because in order for this covenant of God to Abram be binding , he has to comply and leave his country, relatives, friends, brothers and sisters to a distant land. Abraham now have to make a decision and fully trust God all the way and make this radical move to a land whom he does not know exist. In the New Testament we have a good commentary concerning Abraham in the book of Hebrews. ''By Faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after (later) receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither (to what place) he went.'' (Hebrews 11:8 KJV). Now you see the link of the Old and New.

The second stipulation: ''''I will make thee a great nation, and bless thee'' Obviously, the history of Israel has its own glory during King David and his son Solomon being the best two kings among all the kings that rule Israel. Today in our time Israel is one of the prosperous tiny nation in the world , in spite of hostility of Islamic nations that sourround the land. Basically, the world hated Israel, and if there is a way, they will going to vanish Israel forever.

The third promised of God to Abraham, ''''And make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing'' You know the name Abraham really a great name, and many people have taken this name as their own very name. Indeed, the name of Abraham was still being used today, and it was not forgotten throught the history of man. President Abraham Lincoln was one of those people taken this name and one of the greatest president of United States.
