Understanding the fundamentals of Christianity Understanding the fundamentals of Christianity is centered in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. According to the written word of God, Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of God the Father (John 3:16), The Lamb of God who will take away the sin of the world, (John 1:29). Jesus Christ is the Word of God, and the Word became flesh, (speaking of his humanity and Diety) (John 1:1, 1:14). He is the Savior of the world (John 4:42), the great physician (healed lepers, made the blind to see, and many more (read the four gospels). Jesus Christ has power over nature, (Mark 4:41). He has power over death, (John 11:43-44). He has the power to do miracles, changing water into wine. (John 2:1-9). He is the way to God's kingdom, (John 14:6). Jesus Christ is the sitting High Priest of the Father, acting as the mediator and the defense lawyer of all believers against the attack of the world system (political, social, cultures), cultic religions, and Satan himself. He has deep compassion and concerned toward humanity as we seen through his works during his brief ministry on the planet earth. Individuals who are planning to know, or want to be an authentic Christian in the future must know the Lord Jesus Christ pretty well. Before committing yourself to Christianity, yes, knowing Jesus inside and out is the starting point. Just like he said, ''I am the way the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me''. During Jesus ministry, he asked his disciples this question, ''Whom do men say that I am? His disciples answered and said, '' John the Baptist, some say Elias, and others say one of the prophets.'' Obviously, the people who encountered the Lord Jesus Christ in person does not know who he is. Afterwards, Jesus asked his disciples and said, But whom say ye that I am? ( who do you think I am?) Peter answered and said, ''Thou art the Christ''. Jesus indeed is the anointed one, the Messiah whom the nation Israel is waitng for. In other words, Peter and the rest of the disciples were following the true Jesus. They knew who really was, the Anointed One of Israel, the God incarnate in human flesh. I mention this in particular because there are many who preach and teach the wrong Jesus. What they are trying to do was redefining who Jesus is, and if you don't know Jesus pretty well, there is always the danger of following the wrong Jesus. You don't want to follow the mystical Jesus that is being preach and teach by many modern church today. Modernism is wide spread under the umbrella of Christianity, and many Evangelical churches were on board to this kind of teaching. It seem so good on the ears and it is appealing to our emotion, but biblical substance is missing, therefore no power of the Holy Spirit. Whoever deny the Diety and humanity of Christ would be labeled as cults, because, that's what they are, and people should avoid them. Now there are religious sects out there that believed Jesus is a man, but not God. However, Jesus Christ is God in human flesh (God, man), the Only Begotten Son of God the Father. The true Jesus is the one born in the manger, the one who died on the cross, and risen from the dead bodily on the third day. The true Jesus is the one who said, ''In my father' house are many mansions. The true Jesus is the Jesus that have a Father but no mother. Since Jesus Christ is God in human flesh, no beginning, no end, certainly Mary was not her Mother. Mary acts as the guardian of Jesus, but not a biological mother. Jesus Christ has no co-redemtrix in saving the world from death, condemantion, and hell. Jesus Christ does not need a weak vessel to help him save humanity from hell fire, He is God, and very much capable in saving the world by himself. Jesus Christ take the form of a man (incarnation) Died (crucifixtion), buried, but on the third day rose again from the grave. He showed Himself to many people and went back to heaven. But he had promised to come back for his Church. This is the true Jesus Christ. The true Jesus is the one who came and went to Calvary willingly, shed his precious blood as a payment of sin in full, was burried and rose bodily on the third day. The true Jesus is the one who is willing and able to saved sinner who will come to the Father in repentance, and put their faith in Him.
